What are the most important things to keep in mind?

Canon HV30.

1080i, 24p, 30p. All MiniDV cassettes need a FireWire port on your computer. HDV is not "change is difficult" if not your video editor or computer can handle HDV. AVCHD (from the hard drive, flash memory and DVD-based CAMCORDR consumer can be difficult). They do not tell us what equipment to use for editing - or editing program ... The garbage that comes in the box with the camcorder is useless.

There's nothing like the electronic technology is "future proof". The nature of the state of the art technology is constantly evolving.

You have a 1080p HDTV, worked like this video? If your computer has a standard DVD recorder, you can send data files to AVCHD, but can not read normal files using a standard DVD player - you need a Blu-Ray player (or PS3). Or file if you have a center of the "media" type of computer or Apple TV device can send data to the HD playback and high-definition television.

To see the video with other users on a regularDVD, you must use an application to DVDs, which automatically reduces the video resolution to high definition and standard definition can create data in a file and exported to load vimeo.com 720p as H.264 file (YouTube will be able to use the same files - note that many YouTube files now have to "High Quality" selection in the lower right corner of the video window).

When I finished, I export the finished video project back to MiniDV tape on my HDV camcorder (via Firewire) and use the device as a series of HDV (HDMA or connect via component video + audio connected) HDTV .

Do with MiniDV tape, you do not need a special HD tapes - great work regular MiniDV tapes. And do not use - are your / backup. What will you make for archiving / backup when used with flash memory or hard drives? Personally, I think, make the consumer DVD camcorders to be used as a doorstop almost did not happen, based on the short list to.

I have the HV20 and produces striking images, especially if you use a DOF adapter vibrating or static.

Canon HV20 and HV30 are the right way, if you do not want a professional camera $ 3000 to buy, but still want a professional look.
